Making Economics Part of the Solution

Many different transformation-paths lead to the goal of a sustainable and just society. My contribution to that goal is the transformation of economic thinking and its institutional reproduction in (economic) science.

WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE

Societal challenges such as climate change, drastic social inequality or the crisis in the health care sector require fundamental changes in numerous areas of society. A key role is played by the transformation of dominant economic practices and thought patterns, as they have become decisive in shaping these areas.

My scientific work addresses these patterns. It has three interconnected focus points: Reflection, Innovation, and Transformation.

  • Reflection: An important prerequisite for fundamental change is to know the ground from which to change. My research in the field of philosophy and history of economics is dedicated to reflecting these foundations and making them transparent.
  • Innovation: With the awareness of their contentiousness and historicity, new foundations of economics can be developed. My second focus hence lies on reformulating these foundations, especially in the field of economic education, so that they do justice to the complexity, diversity, and ambivalence of our lifeworld.
  • Transformation: Thirdly, I give research and innovation an institutional shape in the form of academic courses, degree programs or scientific institutions and implement them in given social and legal frameworks. In this way, reflection, and innovation merge into a sustainable transformation of economic thinking and action.
